Has anyone tried electroblotting comassie stained gels and had it work on a western blot? I've done western blots hundreds of times by now, and I always thought that comassie-staining the acrylamide gel fixes the protein to the gel matrix so I never tried it, and I haven't ever seen it tried.

According to this paper from 1992, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1381193

it's possible.

Has anyone tried doing this? Does it work? And does it have any negative effect on the immuno-blotting of the membrane afterwards?
