Graphene has very outstanding optical, electrical, mechanical and chemical properties and can be used as ETL as well as HTL in solar cells. Is this possible to use graphene as hole transport material (HTM/HTL) and electron transport material (ETM/ETL) in a single solar device simultaneously?
Adding to the colleagues above, i would like to raise a point for using graphine simultaneously as etl and htl that the contact difference of potential is the solar cell is basically determined by the work function difference between the htl and the etl. The question is can graphine doping affect a high work function difference. However from the type of the doping it is okay. Then one has to verify sufficiently large contact potential difference.

Yes, graphene can be used as both ETL and HTL in the same solar cell device if you consider doping concept. For example Graphene doped with CsCO3 is used as ETL, while Graphene doped with HNO3 is used as HTL. You may find many reports discussing in details how to dope graphene to be used as either HTL or ETL. You need an intensive optimization process to be able to come up with the best PCE.

Further Me Farahat's suggestion, CsCO3 itself is an electron injection material. Graphene doping with electron transport material will change the charge carrier property of the graphene composite. HNO3 doping into graphene leads to positive charge carrier dominated. From this rule, you could try to dope different materials into graphene to have different charge carrier characteristics.
