Recently, Erkan Aydin et al. from KAUST have reported that Zr-ITO (IZRO) electrode can enhance the overall performance of PSCs. Now question is that, in which way IZRO will affect performance of PSCs?

The electrodes affects the perovskite solar cells by two mechanisms:
- They can add series resistance reducing the fill factor.
- The other effect it can build interface junction with transport layer that can have an appreciable impedance to the flow of carriers to the electrode.
The addition of Zr can change affect better energy level matching to decrease the interface resistance and it may enhance also the conductivity of the layer.
On has to make investigations to determine the role of every mechanism in improving the PSC performance.
