I am studying period in cross laminated timber or wood buildings.
Are there any equations in the Canadian (NBCC), American (ASCE), and Australian code or Eurocode for determining the period of a structure in cross laminated timber or wood buildings?
Is it possible to put the equation for me in this section?

Hello Mehdi,
Building codes do not distinguish between buildings of different materials for calculating period. We have only one general equation.

In UBC-97 equation is T=0.032*h^0.55
In NBCC equation is T=0.05*h^0.75
Can these two equations be used to calculate the period in wooden structures?

Yes, NBCC provides T=0.05*h^0.75 to calculate the period of shearwall building of all materials.
You can find out some proposed equations (by Mehdi kharazi, camelo and myself). These can be used to establish a comparison.

In the case where the mechanical and geometrical
characteristics of the shear walls are defined, the following formula
gives the value of T1:
T1=1.8 n (n+1) (m.h3/(E.I))1/2
where:
n: number of floors.
m: floor mass.
h: level height
E: Young modulus.
I: Inertia.
but you have to compare the resulting value of the fundamental vibration period with that provided by the codes as indicated….
