During times of environmental stress like UV or heat exposure ROS levels can increase dramatically. This may result in significant damage to cell structures. If superoxide dismutase activity of bacteria not enough for deactivation ROS the ROS levels can increase dramatically which can cause cell dead. Which quantity of ROS can cause cell dead highly depend from type of bacteria mainly catalase and superoxide dismutase activities of cell.

It depends on the sensitivity of the used bavteria to ROS product for example salmonella are very sensitive to Ros but Mycobacteria are tesistant to Ros, you can use NBT assay to measure intracellular ROS

My need the answer to question if effect of antibiotics leads to inhibition of targets which leads to cellular death. Many research articles have opinion that in addition to target inhibition, ROS has role in lethality. I wish to knew if ROS is cause or effect of bacterial death ?
