The method you are asking about was described by Lie JT, Holley K, Kampa WR & Titus JL (1971) New histochemical method for morphological diagnosis of early stages of myocardial ischemia. Mayo Clinic Proc. 46,31, 319-27. Hope you'll be able to get to this first description of the method.
|Also, much more recently (2010), there was a publication using Masson's Trichrome and immunohistochemistry for desmin to visualise ultimate damage to cardiomyocytes - early myocardial infarction:
