I am looking for a chamber for my potato in-vitro cultures and Fitotron Plant Growth Chamber SGC 120 seems to fulfill my requirements. The chamber's parameters and functions look good but what about the quality and reliability/durability?
I AM ALSO SEARCHING FOR SUCH A PLANT GROWTH CHAMBER FOR GROWING RICE. LAST YEAR I WAS IN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTUTUTE, MARTOONVASAR, HUNGARY. THEY HAVE A LARGE NUMBER OF SUCH CHAMBER WITH VARIOUS TEMP AND HUMIDITY. THE INSTITUTE WEBSITE IS www.mgki.hu You can see and also contact with in-charge, Phytotron building.
Can you tell me what is the price of your model i.e Fitotron Plant Growth Chamber SGC 120
These are good chambers and will let you to manipulate temperature, lighting regime and humidity to your own requirements. You should be able to get a reliable data without any problems if logged properly. Good luck!
At Romanian Institute of Biology Bucharest, we exploit four Fitotron SCG 120 growth chambers. We have problems with condensation that occurs in culture vessels, since we chose the model with 5 shelves. We do not recommend this model, since the shelves cannot be removed by users.
Thank you for your answears. I still have not decided which chamber we should buy.
Gina, do you have the chamber with humidity control option? Why do you think you have the problem with condensation in your culture vessels? How do you think is it the chamber or the number of shelves that influence the creation of condensation in your cultures? Do you think it is due to too high humidity or too poor air circulation in the chamber? Or maybe the light warms the cultures too much so that the condensation is created? Do you think that, for example, 4 shelves in the chamber can solve the problem with condensation?
Collegues, I agree. the condensation is caused by the heat produced by the fluorescent tubes. In culture rooms we used to have this typical problem, until we found the solution for the proper insulation of the shelfs. But in case of such a chamber the more shelf you install the less space you got for the insulation....
The problem arises in our SGC 120 Fitotrons, which are without humidity control. We assume that the condensation is caused by the short distance from the shelf to the lamps. We found a difference of 1-2 Celsius degrees between the temperature displayed on touch screen (and set by us) and the temperatures measured by us by placing a thermometer on the shelf. I would add that the Fitotrons are sensitive to ambient temperature, so we had to replace the refrigerator at 3 from 4 (because they have failed in warranty period).
I hope you will not confront with such difficulties.
I did not have a good experiment with the growth chamber, when I needed to citrus seedlings growth in the pot, but this chamber was fitted for citrus tissue culture in glass tubes.
