We are looking to selectively inhibit the activity of specific interneuron subtypes in the DG. The obvious method would be Targeting DREADDS through cre lox recombination, but the caveat is that we need the inhibition in a mouse where we are already expressing a voltage sensor using cre-lox recombination. I was thinking of targeting either DREADDS or a syt1 shRNA to a PV+ or SST+ cells using the specific promoters, using a virus. Is this possible at all? Does anyone have any experience in building vectors like these?
