I know of no literature. However, in the last century when we did 12-20 rigid bronchoscopies/week, we used Lidocaine for local anesthesia. It was not nebulized, but used with direct application to tonsillar fossa and then by use of mirror, dropped directly into and thru the larynx. I remember no reactions; we published a paper comparing other anesthetic agents in this manner. (If your "Administration" is making medical decisions, are they accepting moral and legal responsibility for medial complications?)
