Many transition metals serve as catalysts while some oxides are chosen as sample containers (e. g. crucibles). At high temperatures, the container materials may react with samples catalyzed by nanoparticles of some transition metals. I could not find researches related to this aspect. Does anyone can help? Thanks.

I guess you can explore the thermodynamic states of oxides and transition metals under given conditions. Thermodynamic packages such FactSage/HSC Chemistry may be helpful.

Thank you for your response. The transition metals are Pd and Rh, which can be used as catalysts. Some transition metal oxides can serve as catalysts too, but this is not the case. We are concerning that in phase diagram determinations, the metal oxide crucibles may be involved in a unexpected reaction that leads to contamination.

You mentioned FactSage in your answer. We have it because we are using the Phase Diagram module for thermodynamic evaluations. Do you mean we can use the Equilib module to discuss the mechanism of the catalytic reaction? I'll consider it. If you have any experience on this aspect we'd like to hear from you. We have databases for Pd and Rh, I'll try to establish the databases for BeO or ZrO.
