I want to study effect of phytochemical on adipocyte differentiation currently we have NIH/3T3 not 3T3-L1 so is there any method I can differentiate 3T3 to adipocyte. I have no time to order a 3T3-L1 now.
No. NIH-3T3s will never work for adipogenic differentiation unless you force expression of an adipogenic priming transcription factor (e.g. TCF7L1, PPARG).
That is why 3T3-L1s were such an important discovery when initially isolated- because they have differentiation potential that is missing in many fibroblastic cell lines including NIH-3T3s.
Without any information to authenticate the cell line as NIH-3T3s, it is hard to interpret this paper as bona fide evidence that NIH-3T3s can differentiate to adipocytes. It is interesting to learn that you observed similar results using the published protocol, Yong.
