In the synthesis of organic azides, usually alkyl halides were reacted with excess of sodium azide. After the reaction, a mixture of unreacted sodium azide and sodium chloride will be formed. I would like to know is there any method to separate this mixture so that we can reuse the sodium azide.

If its for research means you can able to separate by P-HPLC,
Now big size C1 column available with P-HPLC from that you can able to separate P-FPLC also available.,
Otherwise if you want separate by reaction method means solvent loss will be there, just following link will helpful for you

Transfer quantitatively a small volume of your sample and titrate with AgNO3 (Argentimetry). Calculate the volume of AgNO3 required to precipitate all chloride in your sample and add it. After 15 min. for coagulation you can centrifuge or even filter. Then reduce the aq. solutio in vacuo. The azide will be crystallized. By the way, no need to prepare special normality.

We can selectively dissolve sodium azide (NaN3) from a mixture with sodium chloride using alcoholic solution of (absolute) ethanol with added NH4Cl and NH3 as solvent. The solubility of NaN3 in ethanol is about 3.4 fold higher than that of NaCl. Ammonium chloride is added to decrease the solubility of NaCl due to the common-ion effect while ammonia is added to enhance the solubility of NaN3.
