yes there are but i guess it's not available in most hospitals ,, and it's very expensive i guess ,, i saw once on discovery while they were doing research.
The fMRI and facial expression measures mentioned by Joachim and the nociceptive flexion reflex are interesting tools for experimental settings, but are not validated measures of clinical pain or pain in general. There is no "objective", unbiased measure of pain — yet. This is one of the most important unsolved problems in pain research.
pain is a subjective feeling. it varies from one person to the other. There are self report tools that can be used to assesse the intensity of pain.The tools are different for acute and chronic pain
Pain is subjective feeling. it varies from individual to individual as per their Prakriti- Psychosomatic constitution . Exactly measurement is not possible till date but can be assessed on different pain scales e.g. Visual Analog scale, korfnsky scale.
