I would like to know what are different responses which are expected on the influence of different coloured shade nets in terms of morphological, physiological and biochemical parameters?
Regarding physiological responses, fruit production and morphological responses, just read the reviews and research papers I had recently sent to you via researchGate. For signaling see Shahak et al, 2016 "The wonders of yellow netting", in addition to our earlier review articles (e.g. Rajapakse & Shahak 2007; Shahak 2014). Regarding propagation see Nissim-Levi et al. "Shading stock plants with photoselective nets affects the yield and rooting quality of their cuttings." The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology 89.6 (2014): 693-699. Regarding grafting, as I had mentioned to you before, we never studied it. I would speculated that the Red and Yellow nets could facilitate the scion-rootstock connectiing tissue formation, but it needs to be tested. Good luck. Yosepha
Thank you Mr. Carlos for your suggestions. Will it have different effect if we remove the apical portion of the scion? In epicotyl grafting, the plant parts are very tender and the apical portion of the scion remains in active stage, thus, if we remove its apical portion or try to arrest it, growth may show a different response.
Objective of using shade net is to increasing grafting success or some thing different. If so shading has different role of graft growth in season and geographical locations. During winters it may cut light and solar radiation thus poor growth may be occur whereas during scorching summers it has different role
Rajan Sir, I am more concerned with the usage of the photoselective shade net, instead of shade net alone. There has been evidences that light has many role, and have been found effective in cutting. However, I didn't find any records of their effect in grafting and their success.
As an adapted practice not yellow polythene is good for rooting and plastics are becoming common in rooting of cuttings for maintaining the micro-climate
I am not familiar of studies on the effect of photoselective netting or film covers on grafting. One might predict stimulation of graft take by filtering out the blue range, namely by red or yellow covering materials. See Rajapakse and Shahak 2008, and Shahak 2014 reviews. However, predictions need to be verified by experimentation.
