Physiologically in cow, oestrous heat again goes on the peak after 2 months but locally this is not observed and AI is after two months but done after at least 6 months.
There are some reasons that affecting delayed estrous, especially in the tropics. But the most factor is insufficient energy supply came from feeds. Forage in tropics contains high lignin that inhibit rumen digestion, thus VFAs supply for energy is lowered. The lower energy supply, animal body will compensate to use their energy deposition or make priority to use the energy for basal needs than reproductive etc.
Physiologically the cow is still recovering from the exhaustion experienced during calving. Further more a lot of energy goes to milk production at this stage. Serving cow immediately would jeopardize the health of the born calf and the fetus.
