SemCAD Lite is free, Empipre XCcel also offers a free lite version. Alternatively, there is http://openems.de/start/index.php which is completely free open source.
There is a HFSS like software (although not that accurate and sophisticated) available in Virtual Microwave Lab of Dayalbaugh. The following is the link:
http://websupplements.net/projects/virtual_labs/
This software is very simple to use and comes with a user manual also.
Thank you all for the answers! Unfortunately some of these softwares are paid or have a short evaluation period. As I need the software for a graduate project, the software needs to be free or even I need to have the real license to a paid one. =/
Anyway I will list and try to test all that were recommended!
MEEP is a software developed by MIT for optics but it is the same for RF applications. It's totally free and there are plenty of tutorials and examples and instructions. It is not as easy as commercial codes to be used as you need to do a little coding. However, it is not that difficult to learn. Here is the link:
Feko Lite can be a good solution (free). The size of the problem is limited but it is enough for a microstrip patch. You just need to register on their website:
Sonnet Lite is a free feature-limited version of Sonnet's professional Sonnet Suites, which provides EM analysis to thousands of companies across the globe.
What kind of Microstrip Patch Antenna you would like to simulate? Unfortunately, the best programs which simulate antennas are paid. Depending the kind of antenna you would like to simulate you could use HFSS from Ansoft or EMPro from Agilent. For me these two programs are the best for antenna simulation. Have you ever asked you professor about it?
Nec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerical_Electromagnetics_Code) is a completely free software for wire and surface antennas based on method of moments.
There are many software packages that release free of charge versions. A recently published article, in the last issue of the microwave and rf journal, provides you with more details about such softwares. You can download this article as a pdf file via the link:
It is written to analyze and design multilayered arbitrary shaped microstrip antennas on multiple dielectric layers. The solution is done by rigorous solution of integral equation via Galerkin Method (Moment Method) and using the correct Greens functions. Therefore all relevant effects like radiation, surface waves propagating in the substrate and dielectric losses are taken into account.
Windows version of the program MultiSTRIP (full version) is Mstrip40

well there are a lot of commercially available software's for the desiging microstrip patch antennas such as CST MWS, Ansoft HFSS, FEEKO, Antenna Magus, ADS.
Ansoft HFSS antenna design kit gives customised antenna designing of various kinds of antennas. You just need to insert the values of geometric parametres.
The design equations can be found in Balanis' book. That will give you the starting dimensions. Talk to Applied Wave Research about their Microwave Office Suite for simulation of the patch.
Hruang science invites research papers for the current edition in Science, Engineering , Technology,Pharmacy, Agriculture,Mining, Marine, Agriculture, Fashion designing and Animal Sciences.
