I have done rbcL sequencing of two populations of the same species of algae. On calculating the GC content of the sequenced product I got a 1% difference between the two populations. Does this infer that these two are two different varieties or forms?
Is there any expected range of GC content for concluding that the two populations are genetically different? If "yes", What is the range?

the first, you have to determine significance of this 1% difference in the desired organism population.
Although I'm not sure a universal agreement on this issue

Can you please elaborate on "what kind of organism we are talking about". Because, I have already stated that my organism was an algae. To be specific, Chara zeylanica.
And do you want the degree of variability in terms of the sequenced region?
