it is always happening, that whenever a study is conducted, a frame work or some people may call it model is proposed that how the variables are correlated. later this correlation or its effect are checked through certain statistical analysis. now the question comes in mind that either the term frame work or model is suitable and whether a theoretical frame is compulsory for establishing any conceptual frame work of a study.
I think model is the final form of study and it will be valid if tested under assumptions defined by model maker and gives accurate results. where as framework is prior form of model which have flexibility in improvement and can be tested after it is developed.
it is generally suggested that use later one in your thesis work instead of former to have more chances of acceptance with cushion for improvement.

It is really a philosophical debate if we go in depth and bring example in the discussion. In literature, word framework and model are used somewhat synonymously. In general, framework is a conceptual understanding of a workflow(s) whereas a model actually is a process to run through the workflow(s) using the empirical data.

In Science there is a notable difference between framework and model: the framework as the name implies, is the “frame”, i.e. the chosen set of conditions representing the general assumptions as well the limits in which a definite set of operations for having a clear idea of a given phenomenon is performed, i.e. the “model”. Therefore the model can be seen as the framework+ the set of definite operations. In scientific disciplines, the model is used to gain insights into a given phenomenon – such as the stability of a planned bridge under various presupposed stresses – before it is actually built. Models are important in that they give ideas into a given phenomenon, especially when practical experience related to it isn´t within our reach, or when a practical experimental setup is not easily realizable as for instance the predictions pertaining to global climate change and the associated driving factors.
In general literature, the two terms may in particular cases be interchangeable but as said in scientific disciplines, they are clearly distinct.

Due to the theoretical framework we can draw a conceptual model, then we can check it by statistical tools.
A model is presentation in schematic form, often in a simplified way of an existing or future state or situation. A framework is a structure or system for the realization of a defined result or goal.

A framework establishes a set of assumptions used for creating a model include how, how often, where and when and establishing the constraints such as what is known or not known. A frame work creates model while model explains mechanistic process.
Frameworks establish boundaries, and define what variables are included, and how are they related to each other. They can evolve from pretty initial - to almost finalized after comprehensive research.
Finalized frameworks, accepted by research community, are models.

in my research I proposed a theoretical model (as considered) that includes main knowledge transfer elements.... then this model was developed throughout two rounds of Survey to make it more detailed with knowledge transfer methods, techniques, procedures..... I call the outcome of this survey (a developed knowledge transfer framework) that is represented in a detailed figure .....

Model is the result of a process of representing a real-world object or phenomenon as a set of logical, mathematical and computational concepts and equations. Contemporary scientific practice employs at least three major categories of models: concrete models, mathematical models, and computational models. Simulation of a system is the operation of a model in terms of time or space, which helps analyze the performance of an existing or a proposed system.
Framework is an abstraction (purposefully arranged and interrelated concepts) in which a system providing generic functionality can be selectively changed by additional, purposely developed constituents, thus providing application-specific features and services. In a pragmatic view, a framework (a software, a system, or an environment) is a platform for developing specific applications. It supports logical, functional, computational, interaction, and application aspects.
I tend to interpret models as being representations of existing and/or ideal situations, and frameworks as the practical manifestations of the model in question.
