Hi, I am looking for cystine measurement in mouse serum and urine. But, I could not find suitable ELISA kit for this measurement. As cystine can be converted into cysteine by the breakdown of disulphide bond (thiol group) and few Bio-companies have a cysteine ELISA assay kit to measure mouse serum and urine. The assay principle is based on the cleavage of thiol group in reduced cysteine to produce that emits a stable signal.

Does anyone have idea about cystine/cysteine measurement in mouse? Can we measure cysteine and correlate with cystine?

The most accurate and preferred method of detection of these amino acids (Cystine, dibasic amino acids) is HPLC, however, we do not have this facility and looking for alternatives.

Nirmal
