I'm looking for a reaction condition that could selectively activate the aliphatic ester within my compound, to convert it into an amide with a primary amine. However, there is also a lactone functional group present, which has the same reactivity as the aliphatic ester. Is there another way to select for the aliphatic ester group instead?

it is impossible. Due to lactone goup is strained group than ester group. Since aminolysis reaction must be make with ester group and than lacton group must be introduced into structure.

Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered with certainty unless the exact structure of the lactone ester in known.
