Hi everyone, I'm interested in a molecule in CSF. But any way to collect CSF is somehow invasive to the system (cisterna magna puncture or cannulation of ventricle etc.) Is there any other way to measure amount of a molecule in CSF without CSF collection?
Maybe you could search something about ultrasonic sensor or thermal sensors. I'm not an expert on this type of sensors but the brench of theese sensors is growing up, expecially in medical instruments.

No, there is no other way for a specific molecule, because normally it is not only relevant to show the presence or absence but quantifying the amount of the molecule. Here also sensitivity, specificity and reliability of the testing procedure is relevant as well as the molecule itself. There is currently no non-invasive technology allowing this. Lumbur puncture is the easiest way to collect CSF, and risks and discomfort are reasonably manageable.

The CSF is a closed system. CSF contents and interaction with blood are tightly controlled by epithelial cells in the choroid plexuses.
The only way to get to CSF is to do a lumbar puncture.
