Is there a suitable formula to evaluate the effectiveness of predator in open field agriculture?

I would like to know whether is there mainly predators like coccinelids and preys like whiteflies and mealybugs.

The working group of Freier (Institute for Integrated Plant Protection, Kleinmachnow, Germany) defined predator units for European predator communities especially in agroecosystems and cereal aphid antagonists:

Freier B, Triltsch H, Möwes M, Rappaport V (1998): Predator units – an approach to evaluate coccinellids within the aphid predator community. IOBC wprs Bull. 21(9):103–111.

But there is no general formula since in different systems different pests, predator species with different efficacy depending on crop, pest species, IGP and many other issues occur.
