I am looking at the location of bacteria and fungi in the GI tract of isopods. I may do fluorescent in situ hybridisation but am looking for an easier stain. I was looking at acridine orange but I think if doesn't differentiate between bacteria and fungi. Maybe one that binds to the membrane so the shape of the cells can be visible too. Is there any other stain that would do this?
