this is for a pretest of some fotographs of houses (with and without plants nearby) and gardens (with more or less plants and other natural elements).
we want to find out which of the stimuli are evaluated by participants as being most natural and which are least natural.
I'm not talking about scales like Perceived Restorativeness Scale.

To my knowledge the foreground of a landscape that does not exceed ten meters allows the perception of detail elements or components of this aFront -plan. Beyond this distance and jusu'à a hundred meters is the intermediate level of the landscape, the elements or components of the intermediate plane are perceived by their shape. Against by the elements or components which is in the background that is between 100 to 1000 meters are collected by their volume.

hello fadel, i think there is some misconception here. i meant a scale for measuring something with some items/statements. so this is a term within the social and psychological sciences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scale_%28social_sciences%29)
I am not aware of a standard scale (one would be useful in my experiments as well!), but some dimensions that are more or less common depending on the goals of the study are addressed in research conducted by Ode et al. (2009). They assessed naturalness in the context of preference, and used dimensions such as disturbance and fragmentation of landscapes. This however, was not done with pictures of houses etc.. as you are doing, but perhaps the concepts can be adapted for your questions.
thank you meredith. i already had that paper, but however, that's the right direction :-). I'm still searching for a scale or validated items for my purpose but couldn't find something. maybe there is nothing published...
I already used a 9 points scale (urban environment to natural environment), but together with activation, pleasantness and complexity.
I am referring to the Lang (1980; see also Bradley & Lang, 1994) SAM scale (for arousal and valence/pleasure), adding complexity and type of environment (natural or urban).
