I want to ablate a subset of cells in live mammalian tissue explants and watch how the surrounding cells develop.

I am looking for a vital dye to label nuclei that is also photo-bleachable, preferably in the blue (405nm) channel. The TO-PRO family of dyes are not cell-permeable - not useful for my live cells. Hoechst doesn't photo-bleach easily - not useful for tracking my ablated cells.  I'm leaning towards trying the SYTO nucleic acid stains from Invitrogen, but don't know how easily they will bleach. Does anyone have any experience with the SYTO dyes or have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
