I am trying to measure headspace concentrations of a fragrance diffusing through a material over several days. I plan on using a gas syringe to sample the headspace; however, I need to take multiple samples in a short time period and analyze them later in a GC. Is there an established method that would allow me to sample the headspace with one syringe, store the gas sample in a secondary container, and then purge and reuse the syringe for the next sample (i.e. draw from Sample #1, store in a vial, purge the syringe with inert gas, and draw from Sample #2)? The alternative would be having one syringe for each sample I need to take at a time.
