I am conducting a research project looking at the development of temperature-dependent life-history models for blue and brown willow beetle species in Ireland. As part of this research, I am currently trying to use climate projections to model bud burst for Salix viminalis. However, to do so, I require information regarding a potential minimum temperature threshold for budburst so allow heat accumulation can occur above this base temperature. I have been unable to get any information regarding this for any Salix specis at an Irish level and for many cases such as this in the U.K, a default temperature (usually around 5 degrees Celsius) is selected for numerous deciduous tree species but again, I cannot find any data for Salix species. Does anyone have any recommendations?
