Some articles write as carbon dots and some write as carbon quantum dots. But I couldn't see a correct difference between the two.can anyone help to give a correct answer
Quantum dots were first obtained in 1981 by Alexey Ekimov in a glass matrix, and then, in 1985, by Louis E. Brous in colloidal solutions. The term "quantum dot" was coined by Mark Reed. This term refers to all semiconductors with a size of 2-10 nm. Because of its small size it is called a point. In such sizes, electrons and holes of a semiconductor are limited and therefore have their own size effect. There is no difference in the terms carbon dots and carbon quantum dots. It is possible to use carbon quantum dots when studying the quantum properties of these nanoparticles. The term carbon dots can be used when studying other size effects.
