The energy transition is underway. Renewable energies offer a kWh cheaper than fossil fuels almost everywhere in the world. The financial markets are anticipating the excess supply and the fall in demand for fossil fuels. Commitments to the net-zero emissions target by 2050 are multiplying, despite the accumulated delay in global reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

However, the global community is not yet on the path to deep decarbonization. The energy transition is therefore proving to be an opportunity to be seized: reducing GHG emissions while creating jobs and propelling the economy of countries. It is therefore possible for us to emerge winners from the transition while taking care of our workers.

The present energy transition presents a new element: a strict time constraint, i.e. the need to respond to climatic imperatives. Therefore, the energy transition must now be understood as the decarbonisation of energy sectors, such as transport, electricity and energy production, by 2050.

Fossil products may still be used in petrochemicals, but certainly not in power generation and transportation. On the other hand, the alternatives are already widely available and affordable. There are clear indications that energy sectors are transitioning towards decarbonization.

First, the last decade, unsurprisingly, has accumulated records for renewable energy. Annual investments in this area far exceed those of new fossil fuel projects. In 2018, renewable energies already accounted for 58.2% of investments in new energy projects compared to 22.6% for fossil fuels. In Europe in 2020, for the first time, renewable energies (38%) generated more electricity than fossil fuels (37%), thanks to solar and wind energy installations.

Second, these energy sources are now competitive. The price of renewable energies continues to fall. They are beating fossil fuels simply on price. As of 2018, in 75% of cases in the United States, running existing coal plants costs more than replacing those plants with solar or wind farms less than 35 miles away. Sources on Wall Street tell us that renewable energy will be the number one source of energy in the United States by 2028. And that's not to mention that according to Bloomberg NEF renewable sources are already cheaper than gas in most countries. . This was not true 20 years ago, but it is true today.

Third, the movement for divestment from the fossil fuel industries has gained momentum. Banks and investors are questioning the long-term profitability of oil and gas projects. The desirability of these assets is increasingly uncertain. Another example, the number of institutional investors committed to reducing the “fossil energy” portion of their portfolios has increased from 180 in 2014, representing $52 billion, to 1,333 in 2021, representing $14.58 trillion. A study in 33 countries indicated that divestment does indeed reduce the capital available to oil and gas companies, a consequence that is all the more noticeable in countries that do not subsidize these companies.

The revolution in the energy and car industry has already occurred and we crossed the tipping point of using coal as traditional cheap option for energy generation with the surprising decrease in renewable energy production costs. Also, the number of EV cars has doubled globally and continues to rise in upcoming years with strong desire from the public and governments to use and expand these industries to reach decarbonization targets. The only problem currently threatening the sustainable development of these industries is how we are going to supply the massive amount of raw materials (REE and battery required metals: Ni, Li, Co, Mn, Cu, Al) needed. Therefore, the answer relies on how fast we can expand our primary and secondary metals mining, especially over the next decade. Failure to find enough sources of metals, therefore, can lead to disruption of this shift and meeting decarbonization targets in the future.

The world must now turn to clean energy with research and patents, especially in the energy of elements such as hydrogen, oxygen and clean water, otherwise the world will soon become a primitive, non-urban place.

That is a good question, Energy transition from traditional to renewable energy become the highest world interest. In fact, Most of countries around the world (I mean low income countries) not included in the energy transition because some of these countries does not have electricity for simple life.

So, the energy transition will be too difficult to apply for all countries under the current world conditions. Mostly, the energy transition may be implemented and developed by a few developed countries.

However, the renewable energy technology should be shared to all counteries. also, some aids should be introduced to help other counteries to help them to follow this progress and energy transition.

Presently energy transition is rapidly becoming an interest in the world even developing countries in Africa are adapting and trying to catch up. Although they're still struggling because of the availability of resources needed to transform is not readily available. I'd say it'll depend on his fast raw materials (both primary and secondary) are evenly distributed across the world. If that happens then the answer is Yes

We now know that due to the progressing global warming process, the process of pro-environmental transformation of the economy, including the energy sector, through the development of renewable, zero-emission energy sources is a necessity. Since the average annual increase in the temperature of the atmosphere in the long-term perspective is faster than it was thought until recently, what part of the biosphere can be saved from degradation in the present 21st century depends on the extent to which the pro-environmental transformation of the classic growth, brown, linear economy of excess on a sustainable, green, zero-emission, zero-growth economy and a circular economy in the next several to several years. Unfortunately, the pace and level of effectiveness of the rapid implementation of the pro-environmental transformation of the economy is determined, inter alia, by from the level of economic development of the country, from the equipment with modern technologies, from the potential of financing pro-environmental economic ventures and also from the level of pro-environmental awareness of citizens, including politicians and entrepreneurs. Countries characterized by a lower level of economic development, less equipped with particular categories of capital, achieving lower incomes, have fewer opportunities to finance the pro-environmental transformation of the economy. In addition, due to different conditions resulting from different climatic zones, differences in the equipment with certain categories of raw materials in the earth's crust, different natural and geographical conditions, there are differences in the possibilities of developing individual, different types of renewable and zero-emission energy sources. As far as possible and in connection with the need to diversify energy sources, develop the energy mix, increase energy security in individual countries, various renewable and emission-free energy sources should be developed, including those based on wind, solar, geothermal, nuclear, nuclear and hydrogen fusion, and temporarily possibly also other sources of energy recognized as partially renewable, such as e.g. biomass combustion. Temporarily, natural gas can be used as a replacement for energy based on the combustion of hard coal, lignite and fuel oil as highly emission sources of energy. In addition, in parallel to the pro-environmental transformation of the energy sector, electromobility, sustainable organic farming of only plant crops and other pro-ecological economic projects should be developed in order to achieve zero-emission economy as quickly as possible. Therefore, it is necessary to increase international cooperation in order to develop cooperation and assistance in the efficient and rapid implementation of the pro-environmental transformation of the economy. Developed countries should help less developed countries in this matter. As climate change and the ongoing process of global warming is a global problem, the process of achieving zero emissions in individual countries should also be coordinated and activated at the level of international cooperation. The annual UN climate conferences COP play an important role in this matter. However, the goals set for each stage of achieving zero emissions should be defined, analyzed, verified and corrected on an annual basis, and not in the perspective defined for the next decades. I conduct research on various aspects, conditions and determinants of the pro-environmental transformation of the economy. The results of my research on significant issues of the pro-environmental transformation of the economy, implementation of the sustainable development goals, conditions for the development of a green circular economy, key determinants of restoring environmental sustainability, etc., are described in the publications listed below. It will take a while to transition immediately to sustainable, green energy sources, but the day is progressively approaching when this must be done.

To progress on a progressive path, the world desperately needs advanced technologies and solid policies.

We know, that over time, mankind has shifted energy consumption toward more compact, portable, and versatile sources of power. In order to make the shift to renewable energy, it is helpful to first understand the benefits of current sources of energy and the history of prior changes (may I include cost, pollution still, geographic limitations, storage, safety, general awareness, etc etc..,).

Matter of fact, the topic is gaining steam, with worldwide expressions aiming to shake up policymaking on a national and even international level. For many nations, the process of switching energy sources will be long and difficult due to the need to build and commission modern energy plants and other facilities.

For the absolute beginning for the betterment of our grandkids in the years ahead, let's all endeavour forward into a fully favourable energy transition.

We know the energy regime is in transition - Peak Conventional Oil occurred in 2008, Peak Natural Gas will be in 2030, and Peak Fossil Carbon will be in the early 2040s. Those economies that do not transition early, while economic growth is still possible with an increase in fossil carbon consumption, will be forced to transition while economic growth is impossible using fossil carbon. Sucks to be them, I guess. Please be part of the early adopters - negawatts first, then sources that have a higher EROI than about 12:1.

Now, as to the rest of your question - will it help in Sustainable Development. Well, in a way, yes. By reducing the carbon footprint, the potential that the community can meet all of their needs using the land/air/water that they are stewards of becomes much more likely. But we can also expect that there will be reduction in overall energy consumption, which would generally imply a loss in quality of life. Plans should be in place to remove the obstructions in individuals, families, and communities (though things like education, health care, community development, etc) that are preventing people from meeting their needs, independently of the energy transition, to make up for that (mostly) inevitable loss.
