I am just wondering whether a synaptophysin antibody will only stain presynaptic spines? I have access to both synaptophysin and PSD95 and am wondering whether both are necessary to look at pre and post synaptic densities.
In presynaptic neuronal vesicles this is the most abundant glycoprotein. 38 kD transmembrane glycoprotein is both, chemically and topographically different from chromogranin. Antigenicity may be lost with prolonged fixation. In presynaptic vesicles there are also synaptobrevin, synaptotagmin, SNAP-25.
