When a significant interaction term A*B is detected by the F test in a factorial ANOVA, can one simply conduct a post-hoc test on the interaction term? Is that identical to running a simple main effect analysis? I ask because JASP/JAMOVI reports post hoc test results exactly in the format of how a simple main effect analysis would be reported, comparing all levels of B across levels of A and Vice Versa. I have been trying to figure this out for quite some time now.
