Clearly for in situ hybridization or other molecular biology techniques, RNAse-free water is a necessity. However, is there significant danger in using regular distilled / autoclaved water for pure indirect immunohistochemistry? Is there any thought that RNAses interfere with antibody binding?
RNAse-free H2O is definitly not necessary for immuno(histo/cyto) chemistry
Not in all the IHC/IFA I have done. Sometimes tap water washed better than RO water.
distilled water is the best with nutral PH so it will not affact the proteins when doing IHC .
I've never used it for IHC, but depends on what you're looking at I suppose. Usually distilled water is fine and for some stuff tap water is actually better.
I think only in in-situ hybridization while your target is an RNA segment using R.f.H2O is essential.
I believe that for in situ hibridization RNAse free water or auclaved water is necessary for prevent RNA degradation. But for immunohistochemistry is not necessary. I use PBS buffer prepared with distilled water.
I agree with previous answers. There is no need of RNAse-free water, distilled water is OK
