I do not usually normalize cell death data. However, having done this with some data it appears to change nothing more than the axis the data is on from 0-100% to 0-1, the mean values remain the same as does the SEM. I have normalized each value within each group inclusive of control to the mean of the original non-normalized control values. Have I missed a trick, or is this the correct way?
Yes this is cell count data, expressed as a % (i.e. cells at the end versus the beginning of the experiment). The values are total cell number for start (a) and finish (b), currently shown as % ((a-b)a*100).
Each experiment takes many hours so are based across multiple days, all experiments (conditions and controls) are in the same cell culture type (primary cortical cells). Experiments were randomized across different culture sets and across different days to help prevent bias and also help with blinding upon data gathering.
