The terminology ESBL is commonly used with Enterobactericeae and other gram negative organisms that produce the enzyme so perhaps the prefix of "gram positive" in this case would be beneficial.
no you cannot name them as ESBL, esbl means extended spectrum beta lactamases which hydrolyses the third generation cephalosporins. we donot uses these drugs for GPC. for its other type of beta lactamases like peniciilinases. kindly read regarding this.
Thats right and no mention to 3th generation in CLSI was recommended but there are some documents like Medscape wrote ceftazidime as an effective agent agaist S. aureus. So, it seems empirically they are using.
Mam I donot have the idea that they are using it. But I have not seen such papers. If so also it has noticed, then sequence must be studied and then only it can be included. we cannot confuse by our own term. Authentic data must be there and it has to go by many procedure before naming
