No, it is not okay to use DNA LoBind for protein work.

Protein LoBind tubes are highly recommended for all protein extractions

to reduce protein contamination from tube carryover. Protein LoBind tubes are more effective in reducing carryover

contamination than DNA LoBind tubes or other tubes and will result in improved UV purity.

These tubes are specifically designed for use in either proteomics or genomics. For instance, protein LoBind tubes are rated at 18000×g, while DNA/RNA LoBind tubes are rated up to 30000×g (25000 ×g for 2.0 ml tubes).

So, protein LoBind tubes are recommended for protein work only. There are many who are using DNA LoBind for protein work, which I would not recommend.

That's what I thought too. Indeed, I've never used them for protein work and I did have a memory from my previous experience that it wasn't recommended, but I was struggling to find some evidence/reading on-line to back that up. I found that some people are not opposed to their use for protein work, but some are, and I couldn't find any evidence and/or data on how DNA LoBind specifically affected protein recovery.
