Hi everyone, I'm looking for a method to evaluate the nodulation ability and effectiveness of different strains of rhizobia. Is there any method that avoids testing in plants? Are there any biochemical tests or genetic markers that can be done before testing in plants?

I know that rhizobia species only fix nitrogen in plant nodules, but maybe there is a genetic marker to assess this ability.

I scanned the literature, but I didn't find anything about it.
