I observe in nature, as per the Theory of Reference Frames (TR), physical velocities greater than the velocity of light exist already whether on cosmological scale or on elementary scale.

I don't think so that the recent theory can explain about moving with speed more than speed of light, 300,000 km/s. But I believe we can move at super light speed....

A much more simple argument can be given in terms of kinematics, so by not using terms of dynamics. First of all, consider speed as a relation between a set of points, for instance the points in space-time (x=0 km, t=0 s), (x=300 000 km, t= 0,5s), (x= 600 000 km, t = 1 s) etc.

These points are subject to the relation x = 600 000 t; they lie on the line with speed u = 2 c).

How does a so-defined speed x = u t transform according to the Lorentz transformations?

The result is ( with g = 1/ (1 - v^2 / c^2) )

g (x'- v t') = g u (t' - x'v /v^2)

Upon elementary rearrangement this yields:

x'= ( (u + v ) / (1 + uv /c^2)) t'

or u' = (u + v ) / (1 + u v /c^2)

Inspection shows that upon u = c, u' =v, as it should be. The speed of light is invariant.

Moreover, for u < c, u' < c, and for u > c, u' > c.

In the context of the relativistic kinematics one can, therefore, speak of speeds greater than light. There is nothing mysterious or forbidden here. One should only realize that a speed greater than that of light always transforms to another speed greater than that of light (more precisely, one should consider absolute values of the speed; one can consider negative speeds, including speeds +/- infinity).

I have a personal story about this subject. In 1972 or 1973 I became a student at the theoretical physics dpt of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. I was talking with my fellow students in theoretical physics about my point of view that one can talk in a sensible way about speeds greater than that of light. I noticed that a silence fell, but I thought that my argument was so simple and trivial, that it was not worth further discussion. I did not realize that the object was taboo.

A few days later I was called for a talk with the dean who dealt with student matters. He told me that he had been told that I was 'unsuitable' for theoretical physics, and that I even had better stop doing physics. No argument or substantiation was given.

He was not unfriendly, though, instead almost apologetic: he seemed to be following orders. So I decided to remain at physics but to switch to biophysics.

There is literature on this. I refer to the studies of Feinberg of the 50s or 60s.

The kinematic approach is so simple, one cannot object to it. When one considers dynamics, the story becomes more complex. A particle that moves faster than light is called a tachyon. Recami and Sudarshan have published on them. Nowadays there is nothing taboo about tachyons any more.

Talking of relativistic particles, I close with an interesting application to quantum mechanics:

The De Broglie relation is wavelength (lambda) = h / m v

In QM, the frequency (nu) = E /h , and E = mc^2

The product of wavelength and frequency is the speed. Hence:

speed = (lambda) (frequency) = h /mv . E / h = E / m v = m c^2 / mv = c^2 / v

The wavefunction of a particle moving at a speed v can be linked to a speed greater than the speed of light.
