I want to monitor an employee system to know what are activities he/she is doing, like - email/webmail, file transfer, application usage or chat. So what will be the best framework to do it in java? Standalone or web application, which is best? How we can do this?
you can install some screen capture software which keeps sending screen shots regularly to you. Another option can be to have firewall installed which records each word sent out of network. But if you are an employer and want to track your employees, I suggest not to do this. This will be tweaking into someone privacy.
if you want to trace what kind of web surfing is done by the employee then you just need to have a sniffer in promiscuous mode and then capture all the activities. You need to analyze it though. For this purpose you can use wireshark. But if you want visually then ya you need to install some screen capture software. In case of wireshark capture it will not violate any privacy as he/she will be never knowing that you are capturing his/her packet.
Hi Harpreet sing and Chirag for ur answers, I actually want to do this with out installing any software in any of the client systems. Normally we can do the screen capturing and control using a very simple java program. but only thing is we have to install this program in every client system.
