I have a fluid that flows within a tube. There is a structure inside of tube which made of different material. My question: is it possible to model this problem in Fluent? or should I move to fluid-structure interaction analysis?
FSI is required when you want to analyze stresses on the structural element because of fluid motion or if your structural member is in motion. If this is the case, you have to go to FSI otherwise you can solve the problem without FSI (might be problem of heat transfer, flow analysis e.g. swirling motion, pressure drop etc.)
Thanks Mounir and Kuldeep. I solved the problem by define an interface between fluid and the structure. Since my problem does not involve any structural motion, I will use Fluent. The main parameter I need is the shear stresses at the structure due to fluid motion. I think Fluent has the capability to calculate this parameter, right?
