I am doing dynamic analysis of water tank using ansys workbench. While choosing the fluid elements from engineering data, it shows error message. So I have to give properties of water as Modulus of elasticity and poisson's ratio. I think it does not represent actual behaviour of water. At the same time, using acoustic extension, I can define water as Acoustic body. But the input properties are not bulk modulus and boundary admittance.
Please anybody help me to know how to input fluid property from the engineering data in modal/ harmonic analysis.

For conducting the modal analysis of water filled tank , is it necessary to carry out coupled analysis ?
Does the modal analysis with acoustic extension is sufficient ?
As I did the coupled analysis of Fluent - transient, the analysis is not completed even after 5 days. I can't identify whether it is due to error or time requirement for the above type analysis
Also I carried out the modal analysis with acoustic extension, then the problem with fluid property arises. I can't assign the fluid property to water.
Then where come the use of acoustic extension?
What type of behaviour are you interested in? The sloshing of water in the tank and the effect this has on the dynamic behaviour of the tank itself? This can be done easily using FLUID30 elements with free surface activated and SFI flags to couple it to the tank shell. This can all be done comfortably within ANSYS Mechanical. You will have to fight with the awkwardness of Workbench though in setting all the results up properly.
If you are only interested in the resonance behaviour of the contained fluid with or without a free surface, you may even decide to ditch teh tank shell for simplicities sake - than it's FLUID30s only...
Hello, even I facing the same problem. I need to find the natural frequencies of a pipe with water inside. But when I assigned fluid properties to the liquid domain in the pipe, it is showing the error called 'invalid property data, elasticity is required'
how can I give elasticity to a liquid?

First of all, you need to think about which type of natural frequencies you are interested in. If you are looking for the beam-bending behaviour of the pipe, the liquid can be considered by simply adding mass to the beam or shell model of the pipe. If you are interested in the circumferential eigenmodes of the pipe, then you need to incorporated a fluid domain inside the pipe, specify this as an acoustic body, set the correct properties for a FLUID30 element and couple it to the structural shells or solids of the pipe using a FSI boundary flag.
There is an excellent book about all this: Howard, C., Cazzolato, B. (2014), "Acoustic analysis using Matlab and ANSYS". They describe the approach for these problems both within APDL and Workbench.
If you r looking for mechanical properties of water you can use E=2.4 GPa and poison ratio 0.49 with density d=1 Kg/l
