I am currently working as a supervisor on a project related to Automotive Aerodynamics. My students are suppose to make a CAD model of a passenger vehicle. The geometry for the CAD model is obtained by taking the blueprints of the vehicle. Then in the next step there will be CFD Aerodynamic analysis and optimization of the vehicle shape ( in some areas) .
So my question is that after doing research work is it possible to be published or it is necessary to take consent of the automotive manufacturer for we used their vehicle as a test vehicle. Kindly give your answers on this issue.

Renzo D'Amato Thanks for your advice. I obtained the blueprints (2D drawings) from considering the views of the test vehicle . What is your opinion if the project doesn't publish any of it's findings.
I would also like to ask that in the later stage there will be slight modifications in the shape of the test vehicle for improvement of aerodynamic performance. In that case still the data remains the intellectual property of the manufacturer or it's our ( as we had modified the shape )
"What is your opinion if the project doesn't publish any of it's findings. " It depends on the goal of your project. If you can avoid to mention the origin of your material without compromising the goodness of your project, it is ok, unusual but ok.
The intellectual property is yours but since you have modified something existing, you have to "pay copyright" to the manufacturer. A patent office can help you more than me.
