I need to immobilize TiO2 on graphite electrodes. Can somebody suggest me a method or a paper to have information about it. I am trying by dip-coating with posterior sintering at 700ºC, but I have not specific information about the immobilization of TiO2 on graphite.
You can use electrophoretic deposition of TiO2 in solution on graphite electrode. I have deposited TiO2 nanosheets onto reticulous vitreous carbon, which is similar to carbon foam, by electrophoretic deposition in a dispersed TiO2 nanosheets solution. Before being coated, basal plane pyrolytic graphite disk electrodes were polished with metallographic sand paper (400 grit). The electrodes were ultrasonicated in water for 30 s and dried in the air, and then coated by HRP–TiO2 films. An aqueous dispersion of TiO2 (1 g l−1) was prepared by ultrasonication for about 1 h. TEM showed that the actual diameter of TiO2 particles in the dispersion was in the range of 15 ± 5 nm, reasonably consistent with the company’s specification (20 nm). Prior to casting, the TiO2 dispersion was ultrasonicated for another 10 min. After optimization for the experimental conditions, such as the concentration of HRP, the ratio of HRP/TiO2, and the total volume of HRP–TiO2 dispersion, 15l of 1:1 (v/v) mixture of HRP solution (0.14 mM) and TiO2 dispersion (1 g l−1) was spread evenly onto the PG electrode with a microsyringe. The film was then covered with a small bottle and dried overnight.
