Because monocyte after differentiation becomes a macrophage.

CD68 is tricky mostly because it is intracellular so not a good marker. I would instead use CD14 to mark monocyte and a more mature mac marker such as CD206 for classical activation or CD163 for alternate activation M1 vs M2.
