Hello everyone,
Currently I am working on the simulation of the setting process of a rivet. Because the rivet has an axisymmetric geometry, I use element type 15 (axisymmetric solid) to simulate the deformation during the setting process. Assuming that the rivet is set in sheet metal (isotropic material) the axisymmetric model works fine. However, I want to simulate the setting process using CFRP plate material (orthotropic) making it impossible to use axisymmetric elements. I was wondering if it is possible to combine the axisymmetric model for the rivet and solid plate material (orthotropic properties) in one model? (Using contact_nodes_to_surface and a constrained for the elements on the interface of the hole). Or is it possible to use two simulations? In the first simulation the rivet is set in (simplified) isostropic material and next the interface pressure is mapped on a 3D model of the plate (using map=2Dto3D or the FSILNK-file)?
