Have anybody tried some method in which surfactants, or polymer and any other molecule intended to cover surface of nanoparticles in environmentally friendly and economically acceptable way. Ultra Critical CO2 or/and microfluidic systems are great but they are so expensive. Is there maybe some technique for coating of particles that is cheap, reliable and eco-friendly?

Coating of nanoparticles is non-hazardous, it depends upon the material you are using for coating and how much coating material is being added. The coating methods are not hazardous but we add the coating material in excess and its disposal could be a problem.
From your description, I can't figure out which function the coating shoud perform. You want to coat nanoparticles just for fun or what? Why can't you use bare nanoparticles?
because they need to be functionalized, for example, bare Iron is not stable and needs to be coated, basically, etyl-glycol is applied to prevent oxidation. In order to remove this solvent, we need to use ultracritical CO2 which is expensive! etyl.glycol as most polyol is consider poisonous.

1) what NPs are you are working with?
2) what are their surface chemistries?
3) What are you planning to do with them that requires environmentally friendly coating?
yes, less chemicals, and if any, one that are not labeled as hazardous.
indentify what the barriers is to coat the intended materials on to the nano-particles. it is believed no single path to reach out the goal.
well CO2 ultracritical, is pretty one-directional technique, but expencive.
