As both Chlorophyll semi-synthetic derivative and methylene blue organic dye has been widely used as a potential photosensitizer in applications like PDT but I want to know that; a chlorophyll derivative can photodegrade methylene blue by Type II photosensitization process or not?
Please provide me some reason if it is feasible then. thank you

Generally any dye eventually will bleach under irradiation in the presence of oxygen. To "know that" if the singlet oxygen produced by first PSII (chlorophyll derivative) oxidize the second one (methylene blue) I guess you should compare the kinetics of the absorption spectrum change in 3 samples: 1) Only first PSII; 2) Only second PSII; 3) Mixture of both PSs. Choose the excitation wavelength (same for all samples) to absorb by first PS but not by the second and you are good, if you are lucky. If bleaching of the first PS become slower in presence of the second and bleaching of the second PS facilitates in presence of the first it is a pronounced sign that the first one is responsible for the oxidation of the second one.
If you are not lucky and a mixture of both PSs will behave in some non-additive way (excited energy transition, molecular complexes formation etc) the interpretation of the experimental results will become much more problematic.

I did an experiment at the lab concerning KMnO4 to check this point. I prepared an initial concentration of KMnO4 then I left the solution under visible light for 3 hours but when I measured it concentration again I found it decreased. hope my experience help you
