The Nobel Prize was awarded for a confirmation of the theory of relativity. But Einstein had the Nobel Prize for quantum mechanics (the photoelectric  effect -W = h.nu--theory which he refuted in part - I refuse to believe that God is playing dice) but he never received the Nobel Prize for Relativity to which the Nobel jury did not believe at the time.

Is it normal to be penalized for understanding things in advance ?
