Many analyst ran the dissolution method without the sinkers and justified that the sinker did not require them. Is this correct? Is it mandatory to use sinkers in the dissolution testing of capsules?
It's preferable to use "sinkers" while doing dissolution for capsules in order to be sure that the capsules are completely immersed along the dissolution.
I agree. In my experience, if the capsules float the dissolution results have a high individual variation between capsules. Variation minimizes with the use of sinkers.
