After completing sterilisation by pressure cooker, due to lack of time my friend has released the pressure slowly which lead to a great debate about whether my friends act is correct or not? Same thing is happening when we release safety valve in vertical autoclave. Any suggestions welcome.

First of all, it is against safety rules. As my friend said: all of them are written by blood. If you do not care about your self, think of your colleagues. If you release safety valve in autoclave with liquids (media, chemical solutions, sterile water) they boil and your pressure cooker and caps of tubes, etc. will be contaminated by the chemicals. Rapid change of pressure and temperature may cause deformations of autoclave parts.
