The commercialization of education is the definite difference; we have drifted fully away from humanistic education to the economization of education. Knowledge transfer has become the dominant priority; the building of the educated personality is secondary. The commodification of knowledge as a marketable good is the educational agenda; however, the real outcome is a planned curriculum economy, with little room for free thought, innovation and creativity.
Education now is first time truly massive (with MOOCs for instance). On the other hand education is becoming a part of new economy in the ways it has never manifested itself before. So i would say that despite of apparent similarities, ancient education is by far different from what education is turning into. I'd say it is an interesting topic for a research, everyone is welcome to message me if interested in writing a paper on the topic :)

The continuing demand for knowledge and skills as necessitated by knowledge economy and life long learning is another area of difference one might notice.
We can say yes if we consider the ancient education is the base of our advanced education now, but really they are so different because the present education is planed well to perform economic outcomes and to find solutions for different problems that facing human life . Best regards Jwad Ali
the development of education has always been under the influence of meta systems and systems of thought dominating education . It is, therefore, not surprising that the philosophy of education has always been an evolving paradigm. Notably, the foundational aspects of ancient education have provided the education experts with the evidential bases needed for making important decisions about how an effective educational system works. As such, the past and present are not contradictory, but rather complementary. That is why modern notions of education have mostly arisen out of ancient concepts. John Lock's view of the human brain as a tabula rasa gave rise to the emergence of Cartesian philosophy and the superiority of the brain in education.
Yes it is partially shared, there are few methods of education still based on ancient education whereas new practical methods have made a significant change.
Branches and specializations in education are different. Education, in these days, has new methodologies and more advanced styles. Education aims to improve access to quality education on sustainable development to develop knowledge and skills required for sustainable development.
The ancient vehicles of instruction have a lot to offer modern educational reforms. Thus, I endorse the picking of viable lessons from the ancient systems of education to complement the ever advancing modern forms of education.
Education in ancient Rome progressed from an informal, familial system of education in the early Republic to a tuition-based system during the late Republic and the Empire. The Roman education system was based on the Greek system – and many of the private tutors in the Roman system were Greek slaves or freedmen. The educational methodology and curriculum used in Rome was copied in its provinces, and provided a basis for education systems throughout later Western civilization.
Human civilisation has come to the today's condition gradually, not in a single day. We are just following the steps of our ancestors and then try to step further. Every system is dependent on the contemporary facilities available in the regions. The education system of the period of Nalanda University (Fifth Century A.D.) of India was best of it's time, but was different from the education system of today. Many things were rejected, but many things are retained also.
The main consideration of education is perhaps eternal -
1.Students have to learn attentively to get education and
2. Book derived education should accompany the education for proper lifestyle maintenance.
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, but learners may also educate themselves.Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. The methodology of teaching is called pedagogy.
Greek education was vastly "democratized" in the 5th century BCE, influenced by the Sophists, Plato and Isocrates. In the Hellenisic period, education in a gymnasium was considered essential for participation in Greek culture. The value of physical education to the ancient Greeks and Romans has been historically unique. There were two forms of education in ancient Greece: formal and informal. Formal education was attained through attendance to a public school or was provided by a hired tutor. Informal education was provided by an unpaid teacher, and occurred in a non-public setting. Education was an essential component of a person's identity
Formal Greek education was primarily for males and non-slaves. In some poleis, laws were passed to prohibit the education of slaves] The Spartans also taught music and dance, but with the purpose of enhancing their maneuverability as soldiers.
In terms of the liberal arts, the answer is yes. First introduced in the Middle Ages and refined in the Renaissance, a knowledge of the trivium and the quadrivium (even though the disciplines comprising them have been greatly expanded) still constitute the basic structure of the university system today.
A comparative analytical approach is an the ancient time & our present time may not be convenient to measure with any yard stick .Every gap of the year measure in the new change - new research also which we make the comparison between two gaps become the mathematical exercise .
With this at the outset we have to view in comparison with the present learning system as the performance ,intelligence ,& knowledge between the student may come in the measurement compass!!.The task is difficult as both the methods have made a remarkable change in comparison with the old system.
Old is gold but the new education method prepares the gold in glittering & dynamic mode .It is necessary why offering the reply to the both system a proper line of justification is essential to offer the picture of both in a honest way so that education for both the system may not get abused between the good standard of the both the system .
In the old system from the parents offer an inspiration to his child for entering in the KG class. On the first day of entering in the primary classes parents accompany his child in the classroom & offering sweets to his fellow students. This very basic interest as missed in the present education system . With this the child progress starts with the slate & slate pencil ( which can be cancel easily).Apart from this to measure the number for calculation their remains a special or small book which all the calculation which student remember easily for the purpose of mathematical calculation .
Apart from this there is a copy book for making the student for good handwriting. The above are easily mark at the time of examination also . In the early old system student starts his further study with the good handwriting ,with good memory numbers or for Arithmetic calculation to be added with the knowledge of mother tongue & other subjects at the primary & secondary level .
With this education which our time starts with the calculated even for small items of calculation they required calculate & this has been noticed in the business of an big mall . With this note no comments of underestimation of education in the present time is necessary as the present system has placed with all the development & scientific & technological development in our present education system with all the growth from the nature ,luxurious environment & scientific development in the global environment , the present system has made the world happy & beautiful to live .
It depends what you mean by ancient. The positional notation was first developed by the Sumerian of Iraq around 3500 BC and yet the Greeks didn't know about it!! It was lost to history until the recent past. I can cite many cases of ancient civilization impacting the way we solve problems today including roots, stems of linear algebraic equations, systems of nonlinear algebraic equations, estimates for PI, estimates for roots of numbers, etc.
